Pronoun หรือ คำสรรพนาม คือ คำที่ใช้แทนคำนามในกรณีที่เราได้พูดคำนามนั้นมาก่อนหน้าแล้วและไม่อยากพูดซ้ำ จึงใช้คำสรรพนามแทน ในที่นี้จะพูดถึง Subject Pronoun ดังนี้

subject pronoun คือ คำสรรพนาม ที่ใช้แทนที่คำนาม ซึ่งเป็นประธานของประโยค

Look at my new trainers! They are awesome.
ดูรองเท้ากีฬาคู่ใหม่ของฉันสิ มันสุดยอดไปเลย
(They เป็น subject pronoun ที่ใช้แทนคำนาม trainers คือรองเท้ากีฬา สิ่งของที่เป็นพหูพจน์ ก็ใช้ they ได้)

That is Mrs. Jones. I like her very much because she is so kind.
นั่นน่ะคุณนายโจนส์ ฉันชอบเธอมากๆ เลยเพราะเธอใจดี
(her เป็น subject pronoun แทนคำนาม Mrs. Jones และ she เป็น subject pronoun แทน Mrs. Jones เช่นกัน)

Tony is an engineer.
He is an engineer.
(ใช้ he แทน Tony)

The computer is on the table.
It is on the table.
(ใช้ it แทน the computer)

The football player are running in the field.
They are playing in a big match
(ใช้ they แทน the football players)

Sam isn’t at home.
He’s at work.
แซมไม่อยู่บ้าน เขาไปทำงาน

Dorothy hasn’t got a bike.
She’s got a car.
โดโรธีไม่มีจักรยาน เธอมีรถยนต์

Cars aren’t cheap.
They’re expensive.
รถยนต์ราคาไม่ถูก พวกมันราคาแพง

The weather is bad.
It’s sunny.
อากาศไม่ดี มันร้อน

Tom and I are students.
We’re friends.
ทอมกับฉันเป็นนักเรียน พวกเราเป็นเพื่อนกัน
